                    ONE RARELY GET REHERSALS ON THE SETS

                  ‘’KAMSE  KAM PAANCH REHERSALS LAGENGE’’

When you are shooting on a location of  film or television , executing a scene, you seldom get a chance to rehearse the shot .The rehearsals’ which happen before the take are technical. So as to say,  for the camera and the sound teams. If there is a trolley, a Crain ,a Jimi Jib , or a focus shift involved in the shot, for that they do rehearsals and  we actors get a chance to rehearse .

This was not the way of functioning earlier ,form the old timers I have learnt, directors like Hrishikesh Mukherji  Saheb or Raj Kapoor Saheb insisted on rehearsals’  for the actors, but now the  times  have changed, perhaps due to time bound schedule and Television shooting culture. So gear up,  YOU WILL NOT GET REHEARSALS  Prepare your scene well ,in your make up room or a vanity van , try squeeze in a rehearsal if your co-actors are co-operative.

Yes, you will get the privilege of rehearsals  if you are huge and dedicated star like Mr.Bachahan. I was shooting for ‘’AB TUMHARE HAWALE WATAN SATHIYON’’ in Manali in April 2004. There was a very verbose scene to be shot between Amitji and Ashutosh Rana. I saw Amitji preparing the scene since early morning. Entire days  shoot was lagging behind the schedule. It was an out door location in a small valley.The sun was setting down rapidly,light was diminishing . Kabir Lal the renowned DOP had set up the shot ,Mr. Anil Sharma was a bit panicked ,as Amitji was leaving for Mumbai the next day and the scene had to be canned any how, just before the take was to be executed  a baritone broke the silence ‘’kamse kam panch rehearsal lagenge’’  That was Mr.Bachchan ,every body was numbed for a while .Amitji and Ashutosh did one rehearsal  followed by a brilliant take.
