On a casual stroll down the beach you see a lamp post and a slanted, curved coconut tree, which one of them catches your eyes, attracts you and demands a second look. Obviously the ‘leaning coconut tree’.

Ditto applies to the actors as well. When you are in a wide master shot or even in a mid shot. See to it that you break the symmetry through your posture, even if you are standing straight, secret is ‘KEEP MORE WEIGHT ON ONE LEG YET LOOK BALANCED AND IN CONTROL’

Most of the TV actors and hosts of TV shows are not bothered about their postures and aliveness of their legs. Reason being television is a medium of closeups. Even “lively actors are transformed into neck up actors” keep this draw back of the medium in mind, don’t let it effect your total body aliveness.

Today during the grooming of the judges of Master Chef India season 3, I noticed something very interesting. Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, who the Amitabh Bachchan of the culinary craft, who is been working on TV since last 21 years(khana Khazana started in 1991). The set of his show always had a kitchen platform, thus his legs have been hidden behind that platform, this non exposure of legs have made them absolutely still and lifeless. When this was pointed out to him, being a gentleman he is , he immediately accepted it and made the required alterations.

Another important suggestion I would like to give is never stand absolutely parallel to the camera, be little slanted that would give more depth and an illusion of dimension to your image.
This is a habit we instill in the students of the best acting school for Bollywood KREATING CHARAKTERS -we groom actors.
