ACTING TIPS, FOR YOUR CAREER IN BOLLYWOOD- 57 (Through this I wish to share my insights as an actor/trainer with my students and other acting aspirants)

WHY PREPRATION IS OF UTMOST IMPORTANCE IN SCREEN ACTING

Once your performance is filmed, the take is “okayed” by the director its never going to change “keep that in mind”. FILMS ARE PERMANENT.

On stage rehearsals are done weeks before. Every move, every action has technically been fixed. Many a times peformance in a long running play are performed by ‘rote’. Audience reactions works as stimulus for the actors. Even actors often say ” It was a good audience to night.” Immidiate response from a live audience works as a “tonic” for stage actors. But, similar liberty and encouragement is not available for “screen actors”.

Actors on stage have two reactive elements, the ‘other actors’ and ‘audience’. Yes, actors do sense audience reaction, but the film actor has no such ‘feedback’ to fall on.

“Screen actors” can’t afford to evolve through performances night after night. They should realize that as soon as the take is ‘okayed’ by the director, its never going to be changed.

So, your prepration for “screen acting” should be clear, appropriate and exact. The choices you make for the character and from the script shoul be ‘nailed’ with lots of conviction.
As Sir Laurence Olivier once said ” I think in theatre you can inhabit a character, but in film the character should inhabit you”

IN PLAY ACTORS CAN EVOLVE SHOW AFTER SHOW, BUT IN FILMS YOUR PERFORMANCE IS LOCKED

ACTING TIPS, FOR YOUR CAREER IN BOLLYWOOD- 56 (Through this I wish to share my insights as an actor/trainer with my students and other acting aspirants)

UNDERSTANDING THE IMPORTANCE OF DYNAMISM IN ACTING

A good actor would always look for Dynamism. Change occurs through dynamism. Shifting and changing commands audience attention and effects them emotionally. It gives certain purpose and force to the material created by the writer.

Something different should be acheived in the end then what was there in the bigenning. There is no sense in writing and playing a scene which is at a constant emotional and energy level. There is no drama if the graph remains on a plateau.

Analyze any any good script and you would realize that the characters by the end are substantially different human beings then what they were at the begenning.

Characters have dynamics, as does the scene or the script in entireity. Search for dynamics within the role, in the scenes, and in the entire script. So that you can offer audience some interest and excitment.

LOOK FOR STIMULI THAT CAN TRIGGER CHANGES AND CHALLENGE NORMALCY

This is taught and sternly followed at Indias Best Acting School KREATING CHARAKTERS we groom actors.

“CHANGE GIVES US DYNAMICS, DYNAMICS GIVES US DRAMA”
